[SKINCARE ROUTINE] Girl With Oily Skin Problem 101: How to Deal with Your Blackhead

HIIIIIII GUYSSSSSSS!! Its been a while since I wrote a blog post, I’ve been quiet busy in the past few months preparing for my (undergraduate) thesis and I just started my senior year last month. Time flies so fast guys, I feel like I’m not ready to be graduated yet:(

Anyway, do you have oily skin? and you’re constantly dealing with enlarged pores and blackhead? or even worse, your makeup is looked awful because you have so many blackhead/whitehead on your nose? Well, I feel you guys and today, I’m going to share about how I deal with my pore problems in 3 step! I just started doing this routines a month ago since I’m totally ditching pore strip forever! I was a big fan of pore strip but no no no, I made a vow that I would never use it again (ok…. I’m a bit exaggerating). But seriously guys, its time for you guys to start ditching those pore strip.

I know the feeling of seeing your blackhead on used pore strip is totally satisfying, but! you have to know that pore strip only took the upper layer of your blackhead and leaving the rest of blackhead inside your pores. So basically, it only took the “head” and yet the body is still clogging your pores. Another reason to ditch pore strip is for the fact that pore strip make your enlarged pore problem much worse than before, as it took the upper layer of blackhead, it also ‘leave’ your pores ‘opened’ and invite moreeeee sebum, bacteria and other bad stuff to finally form a new blackhead. And last but not least, pore strip will irritate your skin guys, seriously. So I totally recommend you guys to start ditching pore strip and start a new blackhead treatment routine.

Okay, without further ado, I will explain my blackhead treatment routine!

I’m using 3 products on this routine which the steps I will explain below. This routine is easy, but to see the result you have to be committed to this routine since this will not make your blackhead disappear forever in one go, but trust me guys everything takes time, one little step at a time but it does works!

Melt your blackhead – using COSRX – BHA Blackhead Power Liquid

This is the first step of the treatment, melt the blackhead inside your pores to make it easier to ‘come out’ later. I’m using COSRX BHA Blackhead Power Liquid on this step, this products contain 4% Betaine Salicylate (BHA) that can help dissolve blackhead and unclog your pores. On this step, you just have to apply a few pumps (I usually use 3-4 pumps) of it on your nose (and forehead) with a cotton pad and leave it for 20 minutes. Fyi, BHA (beta hydroxyl acid) is a chemical exfoliator that can penetrate deep into your pores and clean your pores, BHA is also mostly known as salicylic acid and if you have an oily skin, acne-prone skin, BHA is basically your bestfriend. You have to keep in mind, prior to using a product that contains BHA, you HAVE TO wear sunscreen. its basically mandatory for you because after using a BHA, your skin will be more sensitive and thus become more ‘vulnerable’ to the bad guys, UVA and UVB.

If you’re not familiar with BHA or never used BHA before, you may want to start with a product that contain a lower BHA percentage. The products I’m using contain a 4% BHA which pretty high, so if you never tried BHA before I would recommend you to introduce BHA to your skin first by using a products that contain a low BHA percentage (1% is fine). Anyway, if you don’t want to use any chemical products or don’t have it right now, you can substitute this product on this step by steaming your face with a hot water for 5 or more minutes. In my opinion, it kinda does the same thing, it also ‘melts’ your blackhead, only the difference is you will get more benefit when using BHA.

Get your blackhead out from your pores – using Innisfree – Jeju Volcanic Blackhead Out Balm

On this second step, you can either use this blackhead balm or use a cleansing balm. I prefer using the blackhead balm because it works better than a cleansing balm (yeah since blackhead balm is basically designed to pull our blackhead out, duh). Using a finger tips, apply an appropriate amount on your nose and massage it for around 5 minutes. After 5 minutes (or you can massage it for more than 5 minutes if you want), wash it with a lukewarm water and a cleansing foam to rinse the balm from your face. You can use the same methods if you’re using a cleansing balm.

Shrink your pores – using Innisfree – Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask

Last but not least, don’t forget to ‘shrink’ your pores! You’ve cleaned your pores, got rid of your blackhead, now its time to give one last treatment to your pores. I’m using Innisfree – Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask because it 6 in 1 function (Shrinks pores + Controls sebum + Exfoliates + Deeply cleanses + Brightens tone + Cools). After washing your face, apply a toner, and then apply an appropriate amount of it to your face and leave it for 10-15 minutes. After that, rinse it with a lukewarm water and you’re done~

I do this routine once a week while using BHA Blackhead Power Liquid 2-3 times a week, I notice that my blackhead is starting to disappear. The skin around my nose has became more sensitive because of my previous obsession with pore strip and it always look flaky everytime I wear a makeup, but since I started ditching pore strip and doing this my skin has started to get better.

and that was my routine, do you guys have any routine on treating your blackhead? share with me on the comment section!

Have a good day everyone!

  1. Penggunaan COSRX BHA Blackhead Power Liquid cuma untuk di hidung atau area yang ada blackheads ya kak? Bukan digunakan untuk seluruh muka?
