[REVIEW] Klairs – Mid-day Blue Sun Lotion SPF40/PA++

I live in a tropical countries which means its summer 24/7 all year round, so wearing a sunscreen/sunblock is kind of essential for me. For me looking for a ‘perfect’ sunscreen is really hard as I’m super picky about sunscreen, for me my sunscreen have to be lightweight, hydrating but doesn’t make my skin oily, leave no white-cast, must be able to absorbed quickly, and not leave a sticky feeling on my skin.

So I’ve been trying a quite lot of different sunscreen, and my lastest sunscreen is Klairs – Mid-day Blue Sun Lotion which I get from wishtrend!

I’ve been using this sunscreen for the last 3 weeks on the daily basis, and I actually have a love-hate relationship with this sunscreen, Why? I’ll tell you later on this post.

But first, let’s start with the packaging! As always, klairs product always has a simple yet lovable packaging. The tube color is a combination of white and blue, and each tube contain 50ml/1.7oz of product. At the front of the tube, the claims of this product is written, it says that:

This fast-absorbing, lightweight formulation sunscreen that delivers SPF40 protection to shield the skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays that may contribute to skin damage and premature skin aging.

Klairs also claim this sunscreen can:

+ Give a UV Protection x Heat Protection
+ Maintains moisture and clears skin with heat protection.
+ Soothes damaged skin from sun and external heat.
+ The peaceful blue color helps your skin to be light skin toned.
+ Moisturizes without stickiness.

Direction on how to use this sunscreen is written on the back of the tube. Just like another sunscreen, this sunscreen should be applied as the last step of your skincare routine and applied 15 minutes before going outside. I prefer use a dab-dab method to apply sunscreen rather than rub it on my face. And I think its better to dab this sunscreen onto your skin because when I rub it, it leaves more white-cast and somewhat gets clumpy at some part of my face.

The ingredients of this sunscreen is not written on the packaging, but I think its written on the box? I don’t know actually I forgot HEHE. Anyway, these are the ingredients:

As stated above, Klairs Mid-day Blue Sun Lotion contains both mineral and chemical UV filters. I don’t know if the chemical UV filter is a sensitive skin friendly, but Zinc Dioxide and Titanium Dioxide is a sensitive skin friendly since they’re less likely to cause an irritation. But all of Klairs products are sensitive skin friendly, and so does this sunscreen, so this sunscreen will be suitable for people who has a sensitive skin.

You probably cannot see it on the picture above, but the colour of this sunscreen is a pale blue. According to klairs:

The Mid-day Blue Sun lotion in formulated with guaiazulene like the Blue cream to calm irritated skin as well as tone down the redness from harsh UV rays for the effortless, flawless skin tone everyone will be jealous of.

Thus, the blue cream is caused by guaiazulene which is one of their main ingredients.

The texture of this sunscreen is creamy, but its not thick and really lightweight. Its really spreadable and absorbed quickly. However, as I said before, somehow if I didn’t apply this sunscreen in the right method (which is for me is by dab-ing it) it leave a little white cast on my face especially on my nose. But, when I use it by using the right method, it absorbed well and leave no white cast, and it tone up my skin-tone making it more brighter and better! It also didn’t make my skin oily and yet hydrate my skin. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think this sunscreen will be suitable for a medium to dark skin-tone, I think this will be way too light for medium to dark skin-tone, and I’m afraid that this sunscreen will make your skin looks grey instead. But if you have a medium to dark skin-tone and want to give this sunscreen a try, I recommend you to buy sample before deciding to buy the full size. (Ps: please correct me if it turns out to be suitable for medium dark to dark skin)

One thing about this sunscreen is that it always looked like I’m wearing a layer on the top of my skin, but not in a bad way though. It has a dewy finish and make my skin look better and look fresh. But! for me this sunscreen has another downside, which is at the end of the day, I always saw a tiny ‘clump’ on my nose as if its clogging my pores!:( It didn’t get as far as breaking me out but I do think this sunscreen is kind of clogging my pores, especially on my nose.

Will I repurchase this sunscreen? Tbh, I don’t know. I’m still looking for a better sunscreen, so far for me the best sunscreen is Kiehl’s Ultra Light Daily Defense, but its a bit pricey for me so I’m looking for a cheaper options.
