[REVIEW] Klairs – Freshly Juiced Vitamin E Mask

Klairs is one of my favorite brand, and when I heard they’re releasing a new product I’m so excited! On September they released Freshly Juiced Vitamin E Mask which is a sleeping mask that can also be used as a day moisturizer. I received this baby 2 weeks ago and been using it as a sleeping mask and sometime as a day moisturizer since then. Soooooo, today I’m going to review this new baby! You can get this mask at wishtrend

Let’s Start with the Packaging

This sleeping mask/moisturizer came in a jar that has an identical design with Klairs – Freshly Juiced Vitamin C. I have a thing for stuff with a metallic colour in it, so I really love this mask packaging so much! Each jar contains 90ml of products which a really a lot, I think this going to last for quite some time. It also with a little spoon to pick up the product, which is great and making it more hygienic.

Product Feature

  • Vitamin E and Niacinamide excellent antioxidant and whitening effect, can immediately see the brightening and firming effect the next day (rapid effects).
  • When used during the day, it can protect from sunlight and prevent skin damage.
  • Maximum formulation limit of adenosine effective for wrinkle improvement and skin regeneration.
  • Firm, hydrating finish with excellent adhesion.

This mask has quite a lot of active ingredients as its main ingredient, they are Vitamin E, Niacinamide, Adenosine, and Sodium Hyaluronate (and the other, these 4 are the main ingredient). Vitamin E is a anti-oxidant agent that can prevent skin aging, smoothen our skin, and protect our skin from sun damage. Meanwhile as we already know, niacinamide is oily skin best friend which is a brightening agent that can reduce pigmentation and acne scars, and also can regulate our sebum production.

Adenosine is a yeast-derived ingredient, which is a anti-aging agent that can prevent wrinkles, promotes collagen production, and help our skin healing and regeneration process. Last but not least, sodium hyaluronate or hyaluronic acid that work as a hydrating/moisturizer agent that helps in hydrating our skin.

Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Niacinamide, Sodium Hyaluronate, Carrageenan, Gellan Gum, Betaine, Algin, Mannan, Ceramide NP, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Chlorphenesin, Arginine, Ethylhexylglycerin, Centella Asiatica Extract, Rubus Fruticosus (Blackberry) Fruit Extract, Salicornia Herbacea Extract, Phragmites Communis Extract, Adenosine, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Cananga Odorata Flowers Oil

This mask doesn’t contain a fragrance but it has a herbal-ish scen5, it kinda has the same scent as Klairs’s Supple Preparation Facial Toner. I think the scent isn’t disturbing, actually for me its smells good.

Product’s Texture

This mask has a texture like a pudding, or Klairs call this a shape memory cream that will always come back to its original shape. Meaning, no matter how bad we ‘destroy’ this cream, it will always come back to its perfect pudding looks.

How to use this mask?

After cleansing, use as a moisturizer. Mix a small amount to an essence or cream and use as a sleeping pack when your skin feels extra dry. Can be used day and night.

You know, my first impression of this mask texture is that I think this mask will be really creamy, greasy, and won’t absorb quickly. But it turns out that I was wrong, in fact, this mask is literally melts into our skin, it goes from pudding to a liquid that literally glide on our skin. But, how quick this product will absorbed into our skin is depend on how much product we’re using. The more product you are using, the harder for it to absorb and the more sticky it will be. It’s actually written on their product description, that the stickiness will increase when a large amount is used. If you’re going to use this as a day moisturizer, its best to use a little amount of it. If you’re using it as a sleeping mask, then you can use as many as you want.

My Thought?

As for myself, I used a full spoon of the product when I use it as a sleeping mask and about less than half spoon when I use it as a day moisturizer. I don’t really like it as a moisturizer, for me its not hydrating enough to be a day moisturizer and it somehow still leave a sticky finish no matter how much I reduce the amount of product. I have a dehydrated skin, so I constantly got the ‘my skin feel really dry’ feeling, and when I use this mask as a moisturizer I experience that feeling and it also made my T-zone more oily. I really like the feeling when I apply this product though, it feels so refreshing and hydrating, it feels like the cream is melting into my skin. I like it more as a sleeping mask, when I use this I woke up with a brighter complexion, however I still think this mask isn’t that hydrating. For a hydrating sleeping mask, I still prefer Laneige Water Sleeping Mask over this.

People say that this mask will also speed up the acne scars clearing, but I cannot say much about this. I see that my acne scars is fading but I’m not sure if its because of this or because of the other products that has the same function (to reduce pigmentation/acne scars). According to Klairs, this mask works better when combined with vitamin C. I’m actually a bit confused about this, this mask contains niacinamide and as far as I know niacinamide and vitamin C will neutralized each other, right? meaning that they won’t work. Is it really a good idea to combine a product that contain niacinamide and a product that contain vitamin c? (please somebody explain this to me:()

Anyway, I think this mask is just so-so, it does brighten my complexion (and I guess it helped in reducing my acne scars too) and hydrating a little bit but that’s it. For me this mask isn’t that special, but it doesn’t mean I hate this mask, no. In fact, I like this sleeping mask.

Repurchase? I don’t think so, but I don’t know if I’ll change my mind or not. We’ll see, and I’ll keep you updated if this mask actually did something to my face (other than brightening my complexion).

I got this for Rp. 349.000 (or you can get it on wishtrend for $27.00)
