[REVIEW] Pixi – Glow Tonic

Hiiiii guys!

December is here and I’m a happy kid because its my favorite month~ Well, it also means that 2017 is coming to an end, time flies sooooo fast, it feels like 2017 is just began yesterday but yet its actually going to end soon.

Anyway, I might have mentioned pixi’s glow tonic in my previous blog post or my instagram post, but I have never write a full review/impression about it yet. So, today I’m going to tell you my experience of this cult’s favorite exfoliating toner, I have used this exfoliating toner for 4+++ weeks and I’m ready to give my final verdict!

Before I finally decided to buy this, I was actually deciding between this and The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% because so many people have been comparing these two and said that the ordinary glycolic acid is pixi’s dupe with a higher percentage of glycolic acid and more cheaper price. After a lot of thinking I decided to buy pixi instead of the ordinary, because I’ve never use a glycolic acid before and I want to introduce it to my face first by using a lower glycolic acid precentage (which is pixi that only contain a 5% of glycolic acid).

I decided to buy the 100ml version because I was afraid that my skin won’t react well to this toner, and it kinda expensive so I’m trying to play safe by not buying the 250ml version.

As you can see above, the toner came in a transparent orange bottle with a green label and cap. I really like the packaging because its so simple and looks really nice for my ig feeds (its somehow kinda important for me, HAHA sorry).

• Refines the appearance of pores
• Gently accelerates cell renewal to reveal a brighter, glowing complexion

As I said before, this exfoliating toner contain 5% glycolic acid which I think its great for beginners. Meaning, if you never tried using AHA or glycolic acid before, this is a great product for you to start. Do take note that this toner contain fragrance, however for me the scent is not strong, its a nice scent and it will disappear the moment you apply it to your face.

The texture of this toner is really watery, it absorbed really quickly and didn’t leave any trace at all.

How to use?

• Use: Either in the AM and PM or when needed
• Step 1: Cleanse your face
• Step 2: Saturate a cotton pad with the Glow Tonic and sweep across face, neck and décolletage (avoiding eye area)
• Step 3: Follow with the a serum or moisturizer

The direction above is from pixi’s website. You see that this toner can be used in both am and pm, but I prefer to use this exfoliating toner only in my pm routine and only 2-3 times a week (sometime when I feel like I need it I used this toner up to 4 times a week). I just don’t like using AHA/BHA/vitamin C in my am routine because I go out a lot, spent a lot of time under the sun, and I just don’t want to expose my skin to the sun rays when using the exfoliating agent.

My thoughts?

My first impression of this exfoliating toner is it stings and I experience a ‘burned’ feeling for a few minutes after I applied it. But, the second time I use this toner, I no longer feel the sting and burned feeling. I guess I experience that because I never use glycolic acid before. This toner literally live up to its reputation for me, I now see why this is so cults and raved by so many beauty blogger/enthusiast. After 4++ weeks using this, my skin is so smooth and my skin tone is improved, it brighten my skin and make my skin glow. Like literally. I have this stubborn acne scars on my cheeks and chin, it fade, I see only a little bit of it now. I guess it will disappear in the next 4 weeks? For now, it’s not completely disappear but it does reduce the acne scars and dark spot, and I’m impressed.

This product claimed that it can refines the appearance of pores, but for me it doesn’t affect my pores at all, I still have an enlarged pores (duh). But I didn’t buy this exfoliating toner to take care of my pores, so it didn’t disappoint me at all. One thing that makes me love this toner so much is that this toner made my skin so smooth and soft, like I want to touch it everytime. I still have about half bottle of it and I already want to purchase the 250ml version (or should I purchase the 500ml?!).

(PS: I’m sorry I didn’t provide a before-after pict because I always forget to take one)

I got the 100ml for Rp. 349.000 (or around $30), Repurchase? Of course yes!

Okay, that’s all for today. Have you tried this yet? What do you think about pixi’s glow tonic? Share with me on the comment box bellow! And don’t forget to use sunscreen today!
