[REVIEW] Huxley – Fresh and More Cream

Heyyy guys! How’s your december so far? Mine is pretty hectic because I just finished my final exam last week, and I currently finishing my thesis! Finally, I’ll be graduating soon. Should I be happy or sad?

Anyway, If you have been following and reading my blog post, you might notice that I’m still looking for a perfect moisturizer for my combination-oily-dehydrated face. And about 2 weeks ago I bought (another) (new) moisturizer from Huxley, I choose the fresh and more cream because this cream is made for normal to oily skin. So today, I’m going to tell you guys my experience with this cream! I think using a  new moisturizer for 2 weeks is enough to conclude my final thought/to finally write a review about it because moisturizer job is only to moisturize, right?

Okay, without further ado, let’s begin!

Huxley is not as famous as klairs or cosrx in Indonesia, and its kinda hard to find an online shop who sell Huxley’s product. People around the world have been talked  about this cult-favorite  brand, and I’ve had my eyes on Huxley product since a few months ago but keep hesitating on buying one because one and another reason. Huxley is really interesting because of their philosophy, less is more. They’re also pretty innovative because I think they are the first brand who choose cactus as their “main” ingredients in their product.

They actually has 3 (or 4?) type of cream and the fresh and more cream is the most suitable for normal to oily skin, why? keep reading, I’ll tell you below. Anyway, the cream came in a frosted-white-made from glass jar along with a little spatula. The packaging design is so minimalistic, I really like huxley product because the packaging is so good and so minimalist and so instagramable (sorry, this is my weaknesses).

However, since the packaging is made from glass and its quite heavy, this cream is not really travel friendly. But it looks good! so +10 for huxley because the packaging is so lovely.

This cream is free of parabens, synthetic dyes, and mineral oil, this cream is recommended for people who has dehydrated skin, has a rough skin, and want a long lasting hydration.

Opuntia Ficus-Indica Stem Extract, Butylene Glycol, Dimethicone, Cyclopentasiloxane, Water Glycerin, Glycereth-26, Cyclohexasiloxane, Triciloxane, 1,2-Hexanediol, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Opuntia Ficus-Indica Seed Oil, Ceramide Np (Ceramide 3), Phyllostachys Babusoides Juice, Betula Platyphylla Japonica Juice, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Acorus Gramineus Root/Stem Extract, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Seed Extract, Perilla Frutescens Leaf Extract, Beta-Glucan, Sodium Hyaluronate, Hydrolyzed Jojoba Esters, Dimethiconol, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/Vp Copolymer, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Polysorbate 20, Polysorbate 60, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Carbomer, Propanediol, PEG-40 Stearate, Palmitic Acid, Ethylhexyglycerin, Stearic Acid, Alcohol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Polysorbate 80, Potassium Hydroxide, Disodium EDTA, Phenosyethanol, Fragrance

Obviously, this cream is not silicone free, alcohol free, and fragrance free. I really don’t have a problem with a cream that contains silicone, I actually kinda have a problem with a cream/moisturizer that DOES NOT contain silicone because it just feels weird and suffocating, am I weird? or am I not the only one?:(

This cream contains natural moisturizing factors (NMF) which is ceramides and hyaluronic acid, NMF is a moisturizer that our skin naturally provide (they are ceramide, hyaluronic acid, fatty acid, and amino acid). NMF has a really amazing abilitiy in holding moisture in our skin to prevent moisture loss. Meaning, since this cream contains 2 NMF main component (ceramides and HA) this cream has an ability to help our skin prevent the moisture loss to keep our skin hydrated throughout the day.

I think you don’t really have to worry about the alcohol in this moisturizer because alcohol is (almost) last on the list, so this alcohol is not a bad alcohol because it only works as a preservative and this product only contain a bit of it (correct me if I’m wrong). The scent of this cream is way too overwhelming for me, people said that this cream scent is really fresh and like a cactus, but I don’t know how cactus smells so I can’t really tell. Anyway the fragrance is way too strong, I usually don’t have a problem with a product that has a certain scent, but this is just too much for me and I don’t like the scent because its kinda smells like vaseline’s body lotion.

The texture of this cream is really lightweight, its not a gel type, its actually in between cream-gel type. This cream absorbed really quickly and it has a velvet-ish finish. A little of the cream goes a really long way, its really spreadable.

How to use?

After toner and serum, warm a small amount of this cream between the fingers before patting it onto the skin.

My thoughts?

Beside the overwhelming scent, I actually really love this cream. It’s so hydrating, refreshing, and it make my skin feel so plump. I think its really suitable for combination-dehydrated skin, because so far, I never experience the ‘tight-dry-dehydrated’ feeling throughout the day when I use this cream. This cream doesn’t make my skin oily and it make my skin really soft, I keep touching my skin because its so soft:(

Seriously, only if the scent is not really strong, this cream is going to be my new HG.

Repurchase? I’m still thinking about it because of the scent!! seriously I really wish huxley would change the fragrance to a more ‘soft’ one.

Price: Rp. 300.000-400.000 (around $32 on stylekorean and $48 on glowrecipe)
