[REVIEW] Drunk Elephant – C-Firma Day Serum

Hello! How’s everyone doing so far? I hope you guys are doing well, if not – staying sane, in this quarantine szn.

So.. I’ve been eyeing drunk elephant product since a long tiiiimeeeee ago, but the price point is too high I am not really feeling like splurging on something that I wasn’t so sure will work on me.

But, I wanted to start incorporating vitamin C into my skincare routine and I just can’t deny that a lot of people are saying C-Firma Day Serum from drunk elephant is that good. So around two months ago I finally…. splurge on this.

I have never ever used vitamin C in my skincare routine so this is my very first vit C serum. Some might recommend its better to use a serum that has a lower percentage of vitamin C if you are a beginner, and this serum has 15% L-ascorbic acid which is quite high. So some might say I – a newbie – am being reckless. But since I don’t have sensitive skin I gave it a go anyway.

Okay so like I said, the main ingredients of this serum are L-ascorbic acid, which is a powerful antioxidant agent – say goodbye to signs of photoaging by incorporating this in your skincare cocktail!

Most of the main ingredients are an antioxidant agent whose function is to slow down signs of aging. One of the main ingredients in this serum that caught my attention is Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer, which is a smaller form of the infamous hyaluronic acid. Thus apart from contains a vit C, this serum also contains a hydrating ingredient.

Ingredients: Water/Aqua/Eau, Dimethyl Isosorbide, Ascorbic Acid, Laureth-23, Glycerin, Lactobacillus/Pumpkin Ferment Extract, Sclerocarya Birrea Seed Oil, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Juice Extract, Phyllanthus Emblica Fruit Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Tocopherol, Lactobacillus/Punica Granatum Fruit Ferment Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer, Hydrolyzed Quinoa, Phytosterols, Glutamylamidoethyl Imidazole, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Ferulic Acid, Acetyl Glucosamine, Sodium Hyaluronate, Tetrahydrobisdemethoxydiferuloylmethane, Tetrahydrodemethoxydiferuloylmethane, Tetrahydrodiferuloylmethane, Glycine, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Sucrose, Maltodextrin, Chondrus Crispus Extract, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Isohexadecane, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Caprylyl Glycol, Sorbitan Isostearate, Propanediol, Pentylene Glycol, Xanthan Gum, Butylene Glycol, Sodium Hydroxide, Chlorphenesin, Polysorbate 60, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Potassium Sorbate, Sorbic Acid, Ethylhexylglycerin (via drunkelephant.com)

Just like the name of this serum, the suggested usage of this serum is to be applied in the morning along with your morning skincare product. But, I usually use this in my nighttime routine, as I’ve been using niacinamide in my morning skincare routine. Fyi, using niacinamide and vitamin C at the same time is not recommended (although, there is also research that stated it is okay to use them altogether). But I prefer not using it altogether, since I don’t want to use too many active ingredients at the same time anyway.

I used this serum regularly, along with my Krave Beauty Kale-lalu-yAHA (once a week) and I definitely see a difference in my skin!

The left picture is before I use C-Firma Day Serum and the right is two months after usage. As you can see, on the left picture there are a few hyperpigmentations on my cheek area, and on the right side, the pigmentation has faded. Overall, I also see improvement in my skin tone and my skin definitely feels plumper and glowing.

So is it worth the price? Definitely yes, I really recommend this for you if you have that extra bucks to splurge on. But if you don’t, there are also good vitamin c serum out there at the cheaper price point like Klairs’s.

Will I repurchase this? YES YES YES. I really like what it did to my skin and the benefits really justify the price point, so yes I will repurchase.

Oh ya, a little note; since this serum contains a pure L-ascorbic acid, it’s best to use this serum immediately – as recommended by drunk elephant. And the shelf life of this serum is only 6 months anyway, so use it up as soon as you can, don’t put it away and forget it ok?

OK so that’s all, I hope this article is helpful for you! Please stay healthy, don’t forget to eat your vitamins, wash your hand regularly, and stay at home ok!
